Melvin Hoffman

Jan. 23, 1921 — June 15, 2013

Melvin Taswell Hoffman went home to meet his Lord on June 15, 2013. He grew up in Carpenteria, Calif., and was always active in his church. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and spent 34 of 36 months out at sea. After the Navy he was a machinist at United Airlines for 48 years and lived in the Placerville area since 1988.

Melvin was the devoted husband of Jeanne for eight years. He is survived by his brother, Jack of Stayton, Ore.; brother-in-law, Harold (Ruth) of Evergreen, Colo.; his dear friend, Curtis (Jennie) King and family of Brighton, Calif.; and many friends. He will be greatly missed by all.

Private inurnment will be held and a celebration of Mel’s life will be on Wednesday, July 17, at 11 a.m., at the Placerville First Christian Church, 2687 Andler Road in Placerville. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Placerville First Christian Church or a favorite charity. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home in Placerville.
