Michele Marie (Hood) Smith, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on June 22, 2013. Born Oct. 6, 1948, in Renton, Wash., she was preceded in death by her parents, Charles William and Helenmarie Hood. She leaves behind her husband of 40 years, Donald G. Smith Jr.; daughters, Cassandra and Elizabeth Smith; grandson, Joseph Zielinski; brother, Charles Hood; and nieces, Linda and Laura Hood.
Michele attended Elk Grove High School and graduated in 1967. She was a Certified Nursing Assistant for several years in the 1970s and more recently was a volunteer at the Marshall Hospital auxiliary in Cameron Park. She was a resident of Shingle Springs for the last 26 years. She was a strong woman with an amazing heart and fiery spirit who loved the ballet, reading, needlepoint and cooking.
