Myrtle Leone Brookins died on Oct. 24, 2011. She was born in Lewiston, Mont., on Feb. 13, 1925, and lived the majority of her life on the Georgetown Divide. She enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II and belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Post 9241, remaining a loyal member of the post until her death.
Myrtle is survived by her son, Leslie Liddicoat and wife Vickie; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; daughter, Tudy Gonsalves and husband Gary; and many others who called her sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Memorial services will be held at the VFW Hall at 6289 Main Street in Georgetown, Calif., on Nov. 12, at noon. Refreshments will be provided by the Ladies Auxiliary. Donations may be sent to Snowline Hospice, 650 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619. Flowers can be delivered to the VFW Hall on Nov. 12 between 9 and 10 a.m.
