Born Dec. 17, 1935, in Lettermore, Ireland, Patrick passed away peacefully at home Dec. 21, 2013, in Placerville, Calif. He was the son of the late Patrick and Bridget Delapp and was preceded in death by his wife, Norah Delapp. He is survived by daughter, Maureen Delapp (fiancé Jeff Jones) of Placerville; son, Patrick Delapp Jr. of Richmond and granddaughter, Melissa Delapp of Richmond; sister, Kathleen Dowling (Sean) of Bagenalstown, Ireland; and sister, Bridget McDonagh of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Patrick married Norah O’Loughlin in 1968 in Lettermore, then moved to Boston, Mass. Boston was home for the next 11 years, where he worked as a laborer and a carpenter. In 1969 Maureen was born, and 1971 Patrick was born. In 1979 the family moved to San Francisco for a year before settling in San Pablo, Calif.
Patrick was a member of both St. Paul’s and St Callistus parishes and worked as a Union Carpenter before getting his contractor’s license and opening his own business, Delapp Building Maintenance Co., until his retirement. In his retirement, he enjoyed spending time with his family, walking his dog, “Teddy,” at all the local parks with Norah, wine tasting in El Dorado County and road trips taking them on any new adventure. Soon after the loss of his wife in June 2012, Patrick spent the remainder of his life in Placerville, a community that he loved. He was a member of St. Patrick church. His only wish was that Norah could be there to share it with him.
Graveside services will be held today, Monday, Dec. 30, at 12 noon at St. Patrick Cemetery, 895 Green Street in Placerville. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home in Placerville.
