Richard “Ted” Griffith

Nov. 6, 1935 – Nov. 8, 2011

Richard “Ted” Griffith of Placerville, Calif., died Nov. 8, 2011, at the age of 76 years. He was born Nov. 6, 1935, in Reno, Nev.

In his younger days he raced sprint cars and rode rodeo bulls.  He also had a private pilot’s license and his own plane.  Recently he enjoyed watching NASCAR racing, bull riding and woodworking. He worked as a body and fender man for more than 50 years and retired from Stymeist Auto Body in 2003.  Since retiring he and his wife traveled extensively throughout the United States visiting 49 states.

Survivors include his wife, Mary, of Placerville; daughter, Shirley Moorhouse of Half Moon Bay; sons, Kenneth and Michael Griffith, both of Placerville; and ten grandchildren. He is also survived by a brother Ronald, sisters Virginia Whelen and Marilyn Jenkins, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held for family and friends at the family home.
