Oct. 23, 1955 — Oct. 8, 2012
Ricky August Harr, beloved husband and father, departed from this world on Oct. 8, 2012, after a brave and resolute fight against Leukemia. Born in Sacramento on Oct. 23, 1955, to Otto and Joyce Harr, he is survived by his wife, Barbara; sister, Gaylene Tompkins; sons, Andrew and Kyle; step-children, Megan, Chesley and Tricia; and dachshund, Mickey Longdog. He left his mark proudly around the Sacramento area, in the buildings his hands formed during his time as a commercial contractor, and the hearts and minds of the young men of the Boy Scouts from his years as a Scoutmaster. An avid sportsman, hunter, fisherman, Cowboy Action shooter and traveler, Rick can best be remembered deep in the woods, by a secluded stream or anywhere that sun and sand meet the sea.
Memorial services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 10 a.m., at Green Valley Mortuary in Rescue. “Tomorrow is the most important thing in life. Comes into us at midnight very clean. It’s perfect when it arrives and it puts itself in our hands. It hopes we’ve learned something from yesterday.” — John Wayne.
