Susan L. Wolfe, 56, of Columbia City, Ind., passed away peacefully at her home at 5:50 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012. She had been battling cancer. She was born Oct. 2, 1955, in Luckey Hospital, Wolf Lake, Ind., a daughter of the late Emmett G. and Huldah F. (Ramsey) Bowie. Her formative years were spent in Columbia City. She graduated from Columbia City Joint High School in 1974. She then attended Purdue University.
On October 26, 1974, Susan was united in marriage to Floyd G. Wolfe Jr. In the early 1980s the couple moved to California. They made their home in Placerville, Calif. Both were employed by Intel Corporation in Folsom, Calif. She was a graphic layout specialist with 27 years of service. The couple returned to the area more than a year ago, first living in the Pierceton area until recently moving to their home in Columbia City. Susan enjoyed ATV riding and making jewelry in her spare time.
Surviving relatives include her husband of 37 years, Floyd; eight sisters, Ruth Ann (Jack) Davis of Hamilton, Ind., Joan Harrigan of Lafayette, Ind., Judith Tarlton of Columbia City, Adele (David) Rouch of Columbia City, Berniece White of Columbia City, Rebecca Bowie of Fort Wayne, Debra (Thomas) McClurg of Columbia City and Laura (Dan) McDaniel of Leo; a brother, Lewis “Bud” Bowie of Columbia City; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Pfeiffer and Candice (Ty) Murphy, both of Columbia City; 17 nieces; 11 nephew and a mother-in-law, Margaret Wolfe of Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her father-in-law, Floyd G. Wolfe.
The funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., on Wednesday, Sept. 26, at Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Columbia City. Burial will be in the Eberhard Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Goshen Center for Cancer Care. Condolences may be sent to smithandsonsfuneralhome.com.
