Thomas Allen

Oct. 16, 1930 — Dec. 13, 2013

Thomas Kawliga Allen, surrounded by family and friends, went home to be with the Lord on Dec. 13, 2013. Born Oct. 16, 1930, into the White Mountain Apache Tribe, located on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation in the east central region of Arizona, he was proud of his Apache heritage and held dearly to their traditions.

In 1943, at the young age of 16, Tom enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. and served his country faithfully. A long time resident of Placerville, Calif., his employment included Mayflower Trucking and Gilmore Heating. In April 1999, he became a member of the fraternal organization known as the Ancient and Honorable Order of E. Clampus Vitus (ECV). His most enjoyable time was serving at Sierra Hope Church, now Bayside Church of Placerville. Faithfully greeting and welcoming all through the doors as an usher and caring for and maintaining the church’s facilities brought him great pleasure.

Tom is survived by Sandy, his wife of five years. He will be remembered for his love of Sandy, assisting with Operation Christmas Child, fishing, jigsaw puzzles, country music and Carl’s Jr. hamburgers. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, Jan. 18, at 2 p.m., at Bayside Church of Placerville. A reception will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers donations can be sent to Operation Christmas Child, c/o Samaritan’s Purse, P.O. Box 3000, Boone, NC 28607-3000.
