Twyla Grace Cullen passed away peacefully in Folsom on Sept. 17, 2013. She was the wife of the late Bernard Cullen (d. 1998); loving mother of Mary Elizabeth Cullen and the late Stacey Jane Wakely; sister of Mary Jeannette Hall and Donald Samuel Waters; and grandmother of Adam Cullen Wakely. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Twyla was born in Cambridge, Neb., on March 2, 1923, and has lived in El Dorado County since 1962. She was a Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, Fallen Leaf Chapter, and presided at the Fallen Leaf Chapter’s Centennial Celebration in 1986. When Twyla and Bernard were married in 1946, he promised that he would show her the world and in his way he did. They began their marriage living at Elk Mountain, Wyo. From there they moved to Washington, Oregon, Idaho and eventually to Kuwait. While in Kuwait, they travelled all over Europe, seeing places of which Twyla had only dreamed. They came back to California and El Dorado Hills. They were married 52 years.
Private interment has been held at Westwood Hills Memorial Park in Placerville. Contributions in Twyla’s name may be made to the El Dorado County Humane Society, 777 Pleasant Valley Road, Diamond Springs, CA 95619. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home in Placerville.
