Rita passed away on July 9, 2014, in Cameron Park, Calif. She was 92. She was born on Dec. 23, 1921, in Erie, Pa., to Jacob and Anne Kuhn. When she came to California, she met William Vogel and they married in April 1942. They were married for 58 years. They settled in the Reedley/Fresno area and then moved up to Coarsegold for nearly 30 years.
Rita was very involved in her community, church and Women’s Club. She enjoyed painting, crocheting, baking, playing cards and being with family and loved to dance. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bill in 2000. She is survived by their three daughters, Charlotte (Gene) Butler of Armargosa Valley, Nev., Shirley (Bob) Cole of Yerington, Nev., and Janet Wright of Cameron Park; seven grandchildren, Bill Nagy of Fresno, Calif., Tony (Jamie) Petrille of Lakeside, Calif., Karen (John) Pacifico of Chula Vista, Calif., Shiree (Brittan) Sayad of Lincoln, Calif., Brian (Monika) Petrille of Fresno, Stephanie (Vince) Cannizzaro of Orland, Calif., and Melanie (Adam) Bennett of Sacramento, Calif.; 16 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held for Rita on Monday, July 21, at 11 a.m., at Green Valley Mortuary and Cemetery in Rescue, Calif. Flowers may be sent to the mortuary.
