William Joseph Crews passed away June 14, 2014, at his home in El Dorado, Calif. Bill was predeceased by his wife, Irene L. (Barron-Brown) Crews; and his stepson, Ronald (Suzanne) Brown. He is survived by his son, Wm. Gary (Christina) Crews; his stepson, Robert (Marguerite) Brown; his grandchildren, Robert (Tracey) Brown, Philip (Stacey) Brown, Michelle (Marc) Fitzpatrick, Kimberly (Scott) Smith, Lindy Crews, Kalie (Robert Wilkerson) Crews and David (Rocio) Mosley; and his great-grandchildren, Madison, Taylor, Abigail, Wyatt, Ryan, Brittany (Michael), Stephanie, Matthew and Tyler.
Bill was born in McCook, Neb., on Aug. 17, 1920, and was an El Dorado County resident for 54 years. He was a manager of several lumber companies over 37 years and retired from Diamond National in South Lake Tahoe. He was a 50-year member of the Masons, a 60-year member of the Rotary Club in Pollock Pines and past president of the South Lake Tahoe Rotary Club. He was a member of the Dragin Wagins of Pollock Pines, a volunteer fireman in Atwater, a charter member of the California State Sheriff’s Association and a past director of the South Lake Tahoe Chamber of Commerce.
Inurnment services will be held on Saturday, June 28, at 2 p.m., at the Placerville Union Cemetery in Placerville, Calif. Arrangements entrusted to Chapel of the Pines Funeral Home in Placerville.
