So the Mt. Democrat is once again spreading fake news stories. A simple internet search can provide several websites debunking this myth. The facts about his testimony being that it was John Nields, not Al Gore questioning him. The terrorist in question was Abu Nidal, not Osama Bin Laden. The cost of the surveillance system was $16,000, not $60,000. And Oliver North himself claims he never said he was afraid of anyone. So much for journalistic integrity Mt. Democrat.

As much as I enjoy these fanciful discussions of conspiracies and other far-fetched notions that aren’t rooted in reality, I at least recognize that they are entirely fictional. Of course, there are those who believe that these deep-rooted and ultra-secret conspiracies are easily ferreted out by ordinary citizens in their pajamas, armed with nothing more than an Internet browser and a few easily persuaded friends, but that — and their first-amendment right to peddle such nonsense — does not actually convey credence.

Oh, and Mountain Democrat? You seem to have forgotten that time, back in 2004, when George Bush disbanded the CIA unit in charge of tracking bin Laden. That was reported by actual newspapers and confirmed by the CIA:

“WASHINGTON, July 3 — The Central Intelligence Agency has closed a unit that for a decade had the mission of hunting Osama bin Laden and his top lieutenants, intelligence officials confirmed Monday.”

The name of the guy who initiated the hunt for bin Laden? William Jefferson Clinton.
