Retired fire chief and former school board member Brian Veerkamp won election by a big margin to the District 3 seat on the El Dorado County Board of Supervisors. The other candidate, Richard Barb, put on a spirited, but cordial campaign and clearly had the most signs around town. Though either candidate would have done well on the board, we are pleased to see someone with Veerkamp’s experience trading places the retiring Supervisor Jack Sweeney. Sweeney was the most knowledgeable, experienced and influential member of the board.

Our only consolation to losing Sweeney on the board is seeing Veerkamp take over that spot Jan. 2.
Congratulations to Brian Veerkamp on his election win.
