Good luck, Hank

Georgetown Divide Public Utility District’s general manager has escaped the hectoring and insults of the Gang of Three and landed a job at the Foresthill PUD.

Good for you, Hank White. Georgetown’s loss is Foresthill’s gain. It’s unfortunate that a person with over 10 years experience as Georgetown GM was harassed unmercifully in a blatant attempt to shove  him out the door and save a $150,000 annual salary. Key leaders with even more experience also felt under attack and have left the district. In place of experienced experts, the amateurs in the majority are acting as their own general manager, finance director and office manager. It reminds us of Greek mythology where there is a three-headed guardian of the Gates of Hell.

Knowing several of the former employees that were non management, you know the workers, the ones that did not make the 6 figure salaries. Those that have left had left more due to the GM than any other reason. The management employees all left while the voting block was in the GM's favor as you say. So this article is incorrect and in need of the truth.

I'm amazed at this editorial! I have listened to at least 6 months of GDPUD audio files and the ONLY ones that were hostile were Hank White, Norm Krizl and Ray Griffiths. Mike Raffety hasn't covered a meeting in over a year so he either just chooses not to editorialize based on facts or is stupid enough to listen to the good old boy cry babies who are pissed that 3 female directors spanked them at the polls and they don't get their $420 Ruth Chris Steakhouse dinners. Waaahhhhhhh! I'm definitely complaining to Publisher Esposito about this kind of garbage.

After reading all this cramp about White being frazzled by the new board, I too talked to a current employee about what Hank White is like. He said "arrogant, manipulative and a pathological liar. They call him "slick Willie" and a con man. . You don't want to cross him or he'll retaliate. I guess the 3-headed guardians crossed him by daring to ask questions. If Mike Raffety really wrote this doesn't he have the spine to put his name to this editorial? Did Hank White pull a con job on Mike? Or does Raffety just have a "man crush" on Jim? Nothing wrong with that but at least keep it outside the newsroom please.

If the editor refuses to put his name on this piece, there is something very deceitful going on. Is he not proud of this brilliant editorial? What a mind! I agree yellow journalism is alive and well at the Mtn Democrat by its Editor Mike Raffety, apparently endorsed by Publisher Richard Esposito.

Who does own the Mtn Democrat? I would like to contact them on this disgusting editorial. Did Mike Raffety really write this or is it speculation. I hope the Mtn Democrap will choose to man up in this piece of info

Mr. White holds a CA Dept. of Public Health Water Distribution Operator Certificate, Grade D2. Is that about as good as it gets?

NO. (A little sleuthing to answer my own question.) D1-D5, with D5 the top. Have found that a nephew of mine -- who shall remain nameless, as he hasn't enrolled himself for this public discussion -- is a D5. GDPUD: Contact me soonest!!!

MORE. D2 Water Distribution Operators = 45% D5 Water Distribution Operators = 4% GDPUD: Contact me while the opportunity presents itself. Limited time only. My fees are reasonable.

Evelyn, by golly your not implying GDPUD was paying too much ($250K) for a GM that only has a D2, is not a PE and came to GDPUD with no prior GM experience are you? And Hank had the nerve to hire a firm to do salary compensation study to say he was underpaid. I guess the Mountain Democrat/Mike Raffety doesn't care about those kinds of facts. Time's they are a changing and GDPUD can only go up from here now that the one-headed lying, incompetent former GM has gladly bid us Adios. Thank you Hank!!!!

Perhaps the proof will be when the GDPUD comes into compliance! Compliance doesn't necessarily mean a new treatment plant, there are multiple options but Hank White wanted his legacy to be a multi-million plant. He wasted a several hundreds of thousands on the failed $20 million Greenwood Lake treatment plant that we are paying for but was abandoned. He told to the public that the State denied a retrofit and required a new plant. Thanks to a Director who did a public records search at the State, we found that they never denied a retrofit and there are still other options. Hank White had 8.5 years to get the ALT treatment plant into compliance - he wasted time and our money but I see his tactics. It's been 7 months of a new majority and he's using them as a scapegoat. Sorry Hank, we're not buying your BS anymore.

To Mr. Raffety - GDPUD is not saving only $150K but $250K with salary and benefits. I believe that calculates to $4808 per week! I'd say it's a win for GDPUD and predict his tenure at Foresthill won't be as long. I know a Foresthill Director who did not know that Hank had been on leave ever since they posted the position. She too is concerned about Mr. White's integrity as more facts are being exposed. Tsk, tsk! Hank White's supporters are falling hard and fast!

I remember comments about our El Dorado County Auditors paying being excessive at $200K including benefits. How come Mtn Democrat never reported on Mr. White's over the top excessive salary and benefits at $250K with no written evaluations and gross mismanagement of GDPUD for 11 years. Oh, that's right, because Mtn Democrat is PRO White and against anyone who exposes his incompetence. Proof is in the pudding and this editorial is as good as it gets as a display of Mtn Democrat Editor Raffety's extreme bias for White and against those who exposed him for the wheezl he is.

To EDC Joe(Harn?), get your facts straight. Auditor Joe Harn makes way more than $200,000 a year feeding at the trough of the taxpayers. There will be no tears when he is run out of his corrupt office. Lots of information is being gathered to present to the State AG and other law enforcement agencies away from the racketeers that control the county for their own benefits.

I am shocked at this editorial. -- For years, the District didn't have any management -- That was Hank's job. All the Board ever got from Hank was "I don't have time," (That's a management problem.), "I don't know." Hank was supposed to manage his staff to get time to work with the Board. -- The Board lays out policy, and the manager manages the office and field crews to meet the Board's policy. -- In the years I've gone to GDPUD, the former Board didn't want to know what Hank was doing -- and ignored the DEFICIT SPENDING. After 5 consecutive years of operating in the RED, the new Board asked for answers. Hank White's answer was going on leave and then after months -- quit. -- How is that an admirable quality?

Dawn Hodson earlier reported that Hank was starting at Foresthill PUD on August 19th, but his contract requires 2 months notice which he gave in early July. Hmmmm - how can he work for two districts at the same time? What an unethical creep? He works for a PUD, not a Wall Street Bank! I am a member of the public that pays his salary yet he hasn't had to or refused to report to work since March while is in plain public view having fun at our expense? What a creep? I am on a fixed income and am pissed.

Why today is there no shame? This editorial is a shining example of how some numbnut who claims to be an Editor can regurgitate the garbage and message that the GDPUD GM was a stellar performer who was harassed. I have listened to a dozen meetings and as a retired military officer, it appears to me that Mr. White has been totally disrespectful and insubordinate to the Directors that dare ask for complete accurate information so they can make decisions. Too bad GDPUD doesn't have the same standards and rules as the military. Mr. White would have most likely found himself scrubbing toilets instead of stealing a $250K salary and benefits. And the author of this fine piece of journalism obviously cannot rely on integrity, intelligence and objectivity so he uses inflammatory themes to deflect his lack of skills and ethics. I, like Pat am shocked that the Mt Democrat would even print this inflammatory garbage! Mr. Esposito, if you want to know why I don't use my quarters for this rag, this is why.

Pat Snelling: I agree. This editorial is totally shocking. It smacks of something bearing no resemblance whatsoever to good journalism. I can only assume that the author and Mr. White, among other things, are AT LEAST on first name terms. Their other terms of familiarity are simply matters for speculation.

I hear now that White has resigned the employees are opening up about their disdain for Hank. No more pretending to tolerate him or risk retaliation. I'm sure the public and the employees will realize that the changes under the new board are definitely in theirs and the Districts best interests. Congratulations GDPUD!
