Guess what- the republicans use phone banks too, calling across state lines to get out the votes for their guy. The Democrats had 2 advantages over them, however: 1. They used better strategy and tactics, 2. They relied more on volunteers rather than paid flunkies. Volunteers are more dedicated and therefore more believable and persuasive. The Repubs had tons of cash from a handful of billionaires to buy phone staff, but you can't buy the true passion of belief.

Editor,

I am 60 years old and have lived in several communities from coast to coast during my lifetime. As a result, over the years I have read many, many newspapers both large and small from the Washington Post to the Richmond Times Dispatch, Sacramento Union (now defunct), Rappahannock News, and countless others.

I have to say that I have never seen such a childish, unprofessional rant appearing as an editorial in a newspaper which presumes to be the primary news publication in a community the size of Placerville.

The organizational success that you mock, is the foundation of democracy. People getting involved any way they can at the local level is how we all get our voices heard. Perhaps you should use your editorials to convey that message to people who tend to agree with your political views, instead of embarrassing yourselves with editorials which convey nothing other than juvenile sarcasm.
