Specifically, who is paying for the existing Class 1 trail maintenance? What about liability insurance? How much is budgeted for both? Sharing the easement would seemingly force the entities to share these costs. Private/public cost sharing is not completely uncommon and financially mutually beneficial. The excursion train money might end up siphoning those dollars right out of the county, though..

When Southern Pacific tried to abandon the right of way in 1987, a lot of people volunteered their time and money to help the county fight it, after being told that the BOS was trying to keep the rails and the right of way for future rail use: commuter, tourist, etc.
Now we are finding out that again we were lied to (big surprise...LOL).
Get rid of these jerks...

There is something going on when the same three stooges are doing the same thing yet again considering two of them are thankfully gone soon. I wonder if it was the JPA slap-down the BOS received or is it a developer involved in trying to stop the rails from being used for fear of bothering a future housing development in Latrobe, maybe AKT or another big player, or is it just spite for Knight being voted out. There is more to this vote then the public knows, that I am sure of.
