My turn: HSUS move on California already growing

The move by the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) to follow their mandated goal to stop all hunting in California moved even farther with the approval of SB 1221 by the Senate recently, as they added amendments through their pawn, Senator Ted Lieu (D-Redondo Beach), that requires registration and fees for any dogs used to hunt mammals, now including dogs for hunting pigs, deer, rabbits or raccoons.
In other words, rather than add amendments to try and water down the bill, they made it even more restrictive, and included other types of hunters beside hound hunters for bears and bobcats. Can their goal of eliminating pheasant hunting clubs be far behind? The answer is a definitive “no.” We could have used the support of bird hunters during this battle, but unless we can pressure Governor Brown to not sign SB 1221 into law, it’s too late now.
Senator Lieu is a hypocrite, and a liar, and we say that with certainty, as he lied on the Senate floor about hounds and hound hunting, and in his discussions with other senators. He was bought and paid for by Jennifer Fearing, California head of HSUS, and he bowed to her bidding at every turn.
Why is he a hypocrite? Because on Sept. 6, 2011, Senator Lieu publicly announced that there is nothing wrong with shark finning, where sharks are caught, their fins cut off, and then they’re thrown back into the ocean to die a miserable death. He even said, “There is nothing inherently wrong with eating shark fin soup.” We guess not, if you’re not aware of how shark fins are obtained. The hypocrisy comes on May 21, 2012, when he said that “bear hunting with hounds is inhumane and unsportsmanlike.” So, finning sharks is humane and sportsmanlike, but hunting bears with hounds is not?
The hope for sportsmen in California now lies with Governor Brown: if he signs SB 1221, it becomes law. If he does not, we have another short respite before another Democrat comes up with another bill to try and strip away even more of our rights, freedoms and liberties.
Contact Gov. Jerry Brown’s office and ask him to please, do not sign SB 1221 into law by writing to: Gov. Jerry Brown, c/o State Capitol, Suite 1173, Sacramento 95814, phone: 916-445-2841, FAX: 916-558-3160, or to e-mail a comment, go to gov.ca.gov/m_contact.php and use the online form.
Editor’s note — Bill Karr said, “I just got confirmation that  HSUS actually did hand out $1,000 checks to our legislators, literally buying their votes.”
