Please keep Senior Nutrition Centers open

By November 1, 2010

Monika and I have visited the Senior Nutrition sites in Diamond Springs, Placerville and El Dorado Hills. We enjoyed the hot, nutritious meals and we enjoyed the opportunity to talk to the seniors who were also enjoying their lunches.

After talking with the seniors, it was obvious that they were dependent on their meals for nutrition and social purposes. For many of them this was their only hot meal for the day — and they could afford it. Also, they look forward to socializing with other seniors. Several mentioned that they rarely leave their houses, and they look forward to meeting friends and acquaintances at the Senior Nutrition Center.

We sincerely hope that the nutrition centers will not be closed. We believe those centers truly enhance the lives of our local seniors.
