A few years ago my father, Roy Skiles, was killed in an auto accident caused by a drunk driver. She was convicted of gross vehicular manslaughter on a plea deal and did very little time for taking my father’s life.
A few weeks ago she was again picked up in El Dorado County for an alleged DUI. Of course my family was outraged when we heard about this. Two of my sisters wrote letters to the DA’s Office. To our heartfelt surprise, the DA’s Office responded with empathy and assured us that they would deal with this in the hopes of providing us with some justice.
We still need to worry about what a public defender, judge or jury might do. However, I want to give a big thank you to the El Dorado County’s District Attorney’s Office for providing us with some hope. The residents of El Dorado County can rest assured that their letters to their DA’s Office will be read with compassion and concern for justice.
