Thanks for coming forward about Garden Valley Fire District

EDITOR:

Congratulations to Ms. Maria Capraun for seeing her lawsuit through and her well deserved settlement. I and my family experienced three painful and very expensive years due to this same individual and subsequent lawsuit that was brought against him and the fire district for which I was employed for 12 years.

My lawsuit was very much the same as Ms. Capraun’s, which was settled out of court after three very long years. The similarities are remarkably striking. My wife and I decided we were going to go the distance to hopefully keep this individual from doing harm to another firefighter.

Kudos to Noel Stack for her coverage of this case. It took me a while to find a reporter who not only understood what was going on wtih this guy but believed in me. I am beside myself trying to understand how this individual continues to pull the wool over the eyes of those who are responsible for his actions. And who, more importantly, answer to the taxpayers of the district to they serve.

There still remain a couple of board members in my district who believe this guy could do no harm. This is absolutely unbelievable, especially in light of his criminal history and published (as well as unpublished) negative news stories. The believers will remain believers and nothing you can say will change their minds. However, for those of us that know … well … we have the courts on our side. Unfortunately it is at the expense of the taxpayers.

I hope and pray the incumbents elected by the people will not allow this individual to attempt to destroy another firefighter’s career or anyone for that matter, who in the service. We are here to serve — not destroy, as is in his case. He almost succeeded in destroying my career … but lost.

Great job, Maria.
