The balancing act: His lips are moving

Con men are well aware of the old adage of when they are lying. Now that adage can be applied to our president. In more than a hundred maybe a thousand speeches the president said of his plan for universal health care, “If you like your health insurance plan and/or your doctor you can or will be able to keep them.” But as it turns out that is not true and when the president said those words over and over again, he knew it wasn’t true. Obama also claimed that your insurance premium for the average family would decline by $2,500 annually. In fact he knew both claims were a lie.

Only because the individual mandate hits America a year before the employer mandate, this is estimated to affect “only” 15 million individual health plans and millions more insured under these individual plans. But when the employer mandates hit us in a year there will be as many as 90 or more millions of Americans affected. In other words, we are now only seeing the above-the-surface portion of the iceberg at full speed ahead. The president’s answer is that your private insurance was “sub-standard,” in that it doesn’t offer the coverage the government policy does. What kind of mandatory coverage does the government offer? Every policy will have maternity coverage, mental health coverage, obesity coverage, abortion coverage, fertility coverage, Viagra coverage and more. The majority of health insurance customers does not want this coverage, let alone pay for it for themselves or anyone else.

But the government plans have huge deductibles. A silver plan for a non-smoking family of four has an out-of-pocket cost of almost $14,000 with a deductible of $10,400. If you make $100,000, the out-of-pocket could be as high as $21,000 with a deductible of $12,700. With those kinds of numbers, who needs insurance? Better yet, it appears the IRS penalty can only be applied to your tax refund, not your total tax bill or obligation. That means most people who make the intelligent choice to not buy “health insurance” will also limit their federal tax withholding so they will not have a tax refund. They not only will take home a larger pay check, they will not incur back-breaking health care premiums until they need them. People will be free to negotiate their doctor bills. Why buy medical insurance unless you have a medical problem that has a potential total bill in excess of say $12,000?

Only those who had a plan before March of 2010 were grandfathered in to keep their health care under Obamacare, but that was a meaningless “grandfather clause” as under the Obamacare law, if your grandfathered insurance changes in deductible by as little as a $5 co-payment, you are expelled from that policy and forced into an Obamacare health exchange to buy “insurance.” When that happens and it has already happened for most of the grandfathered insurance plans, you will be hit with sticker shock. Most people will find their health “insurance” doubling in price with half the effective coverage including much higher deductibles and worse yet, coverage and medical care that will be decided by the government where there is no recourse.

Why is the government health insurance more expensive? First, it contains coverage you neither need nor want. Secondly, you have little choice in deductibles. And third and most important anyone can get insurance even with a significant pre-existing injury. So everyone pays for maternity and neo-natal care and everyone pays for people who are morbidly obese (walking time bombs), I could go on but there is no incentive for being smart about your health. And with the IRS penalty being suspended for now and limited at best, why would anyone buy insurance now when they are healthy? Buy it when you have a significant, expensive health problem. The bottom line is that people are seeing the price of their insurance double with less coverage applicable to them. It is probably best said in the following way: If you think health insurance is expensive now, wait until it’s free from the government.

It is common knowledge of the Obamacare sign-up Website’s an utter and complete failure after spending close to $700 million. That should be a sign of just how bad government health care will be. But so far the only people signing up are those who are being placed on what are essentially free Medicaid and Medicare. These people do not pay any premiums.

Obamacare is going to collapse under its own weight; just as the Soviet Union collapsed under the weight of a defense budget that was 50 percent of its GDP. Socialist schemes such as Obamacare can’t work as they defy human nature. But Obama despises America, he hates the Constitution and this is a major step towards the destruction of America. If you don’t get it, Obama is a liar. He has lied about the IRS scandal, Benghazi, the NSA spying and now Obamacare.

Now a Democrat running for office in Virginia is advocating a law that would require doctors to treat all Medicare and Medicaid patients regardless of fees. In other words she literally wants to enslave doctors. If you think there is a doctor shortage now, just wait until they pass a law like that.

1.) INSURANCE companies cancelled the policies.... NOT President Obama..... Contrary to Glenn Beck... Obama does not have any authority over Insurance Companies... 2.) When did YOU, Larry, or any other Republican start caring about the 15 million people who DIDN'T have ANY health care -- 20 years??? ...... and Since when did you or any other Republican care about what Virginia Doctors think with the "Trans-vaginal Sonogram" even though 100s of Virginia Doctor's didn't what an UNNECESSARY PROCEDURE?....... Here's a hint: The Affordable Care Act (ACA)=/=a website..... the 800 phone # works just fine...

Ali-Bummer's next act; "If you like open borders, millions of drug gang members pouring into the country, and millions of people illegally in the country receiving free benefits like my illegal Kenya relatives, you have no choice." As he has no plans to close the borders, enforce immigration laws or fund the Border Security Act of 2006. As to guns and the 2nd Amendment; " If you like the Constitution, I promise on my orders, you can keep my rewritten version of it." He will be sure to try to cancel The Amendments and Bill of Rights. As to your money; "After I am done redistributing it, you can keep the change." He is just warming up his taking of other's money. Ali-Bummer is exposed now and had to lie to the people to be elected, he had to lie about his past, his education records, and his citizenship and hide all. Those he lied to and voted for him; Here is your naked King and anti-hero unmasked as a liar, even though his liberal media is covering for him, he is seen in action causing the intentional cancelling of millions of people off of their health care insurance and causing others to see 300% or higher increases, many with life threatening illness and treatments that will now be gone. This was all designed to destroy private insurance. This federal govt. without a budget in five years, under Ali-Bummer, will soon be unable to function again when the next CR expires and will shut down all by design and need of crises and this will continue into the elections of 2014 where it will be determined if people want their country back yet.

1.) INSURANCE COMPANIES canceled the policies..... NOT President Obama...... 2.) Why do YOU, Larry, prefer to pay the Emergency room costs when people can't get health care and could be covered? ..... 3.) Why the SUDDEN compassion for individuals who were BLOCKED from getting Heath Insurance when for 20-years you, Larry, and your fellow GOPs didn't care? 4.) The Government does not OWN, or OPERATE the Health Insurance Companies.... (Thank God I never bought a car from you if you can't understand that concept.)..... 5.) Why are you so concerned about what Virginia DOCTORS think when your fellow GOPers passed a "Trans-va**** sonogram" bill when 100s of DOCTORS asked that that bill be killed........ and this is the BIG QUESTION.... 6.) Why are you, LARRY, fighting FOR insurance companies? Do you think that they are going deal fairly with us? They haven't for more than 20-years..... Why do you trust them NOW???

dink, it isn't working, anyone with an above room temperature IQ and post 3rd grade reading comprehension is well aware of how and why 10's of millions are being booted from their healthcare insurance, even if you don't. Even the left has given up pi$$ing down peoples leg and trying to tell them it's raining. Just in case those outlets that you rely on to tell you only what you want to hear haven't mentioned it, obama himself has offered an "I'm sorry" for repeatedly lying to the entire country. dink defines delusional, daily.

As a member of the medical field I go to presentation from the government that talks about the changes coming to medicine in the years to come. These are typically funded by the government (the one I just attended was) and they are told to say how great the ACA is. They were very upfront to say that the government is aware that not evryones cost will go down. Some peoples will go up so that the cost of insurance is spread over the whole of the nation. That means you and I are paying for others to not pay. Well I don't know about the rest of you but I don't want to have to pay for people who don't work. Yes there are those out there that need help, but there are just as may that don't work, because they feel that they are "owed" free insurance. Dink Lane I ask you, why should I get up and go to work each day and have to pay the insurance for someone who does not?! Why should I have to loose some of my hard earned money, so that others can sit on their behinds and watch TV? Why sould I have to have insurance to cover pregnancy when I have can not (medically)have any more kids? I thought that our fore fathers and our current military were fighting for our freedom, not fighting so that the lazy could live off the productive.

I thought Larry's first sentence interesting. He then goes on to trash Obamacare which one expects in the pages of the Mt.Democrat. However, Larry closes with a rabid mouth foaming TeaParty/Republican attack: "Obama despises America, he hates the Constitution and this is a major step towards the destruction of America. If you don't get it, Obama is a lair. He has lied about the IRS scandal, Benghazi, the NSA spying and now Obamacare." Larry, didn't your Journalism professor ever tell you to not mix two topics in one biased editorial? I say biased Larry, because how can you know that the president despises America and hates the Constitution beyond repeating TeaParty/Republican nonsense talking points designed to enrage the mob? Larry, I'm going to have to give a F minus on your editorial. Try to do better in the future.

Larry's speculation is just that -- speculation. Although, I'm surprised that the president apologized as lawyers know you never apologize because when you do, you accept liability. Strange, give the president is surrounded by lawyers.

You can bet there’re jamming as much UF6 thru those 3rd generation centrifuges as humanly possible, and how many DPRK fishing trawlers have offloaded their 3- stagers in the gulf of Oman. While obama lies about his lies, the goths have made ready. Remember when al-Qaida blossomed… right when we were all focused on bill & monica? And now obamba has gutted the military and purged the brasshats… well, Houston we have a problem. Maybe Israel is going to save us? Lets face it, obamba was dealt a bad hand… but then he made a house of cards with them. Have we forgotten DOD quietly said 10 years ago we are defenseless against the ‘scud in a bucket’ scenario? A primitive low yield nuclear air burst launched from a decrepit hulk of a trawler 20 miles offshore could melt 1500 Pennsylvania ave…. Hmmmm….

Yes, a fair question indeed, Iran. A scape-goat and cover all in one. Last report was a few weeks or months away from a nuke and now the entire Middle East is suddenly not being covered, which means, watch for something soon. History repeats? We have another liberal in power suffering from a series of self-created troubles who has imploded and the media cover is fading and Joe is nowhere to be found to distract. Big trouble in the polls and 2014 elections in full play for the GOP. It was wondered what would derail the new and unimproved liberal agenda and now all have seen the light with Obama-Scare Act 1. This time, with millions losing their insurance, a few cruise missiles won't turn the trick.

The incompetent One's foreign policy is a disaster on steroids. I guess giving him a peace prize just for being a good Marxist is a little telling of the politics behind such honors. There are some forces gaining strength and some under currents brewing in less than noble places in the world under his watch that mean bad thing for a whole lot of people. The question is whether or not he is clueless or worse? I don't believe he is clueless, I think it is something far worse. Handing over the sec of state roll to individuals just because they have traveled the world on other peoples dime for decades isn't exactly the kind of move that breeds respect from other nations. pville jack, the repubs have offered numerous healthcare plans. They are all still sitting on harry reid's desk. The line of thought that has corrupted common sense in America is based on the idea that if the leftist have some idea (regardless of how stupid or unworkable) then the party who should be in the business of defeating leftism is then required to offer something even more grandiose. It is how the left continuously marches toward complete tyranny. The strategy is actually quite simple. The leftist offer some pie in the sky program that even further reduces any need for individuals to take any responsibility for themselves and if the opposition doesn't respond in kind with an even more generous give away program then they are continuously berated and accused of wanting to starve children and push grandma off a cliff with a full frontal assault from the ever dependable leftists media. The process is responsible for a great number of the dumbdown leftist lemmings who have been drawn into the feeding frenzy based on their default perspective of being entitled to what other people earn and their overwhelming need to have something to hate. It is just another part of what makes them useful idiots. Libtards if you prefer.

The classic 'forking' move in chess, either direction works. The dems are willing to give the farm away with amnesty making demorats out of illegals, and when we object illegals move to the left. The only problem it hurts all US citizens.

Pvillejack, here you go....... Because the new health care law kills jobs, raises taxes, and increases the cost of health care, we will immediately take action to repeal this law. This promise was fulfilled on January 19, 2011 with the passage of H.R. 2. President Obama's Job Destroying Health Care Law was repealed by the House of Representatives. Vote Result • Text of the Repeal Bill [PDF] IN PROGRESS: On January 20, 2011, the House passed H. Res. 9, a resolution instructing House committees to develop legislation replacing the job-killing health care law. Committees are currently doing their work to hold hearings and examine solutions to lower costs, increase access to quality care, and strengthen the doctor-patient relationship. Vote Result • Text of the Resolution [PDF] Enact Medical Liability Reform Skyrocketing medical liability insurance rates have distorted the practice of medicine, routinely forcing doctors to order costly and often unnecessary tests to protect themselves from lawsuits, often referred to as "defensive medicine." We will enact common-sense medical liability reforms to lower costs, rein in junk lawsuits and curb defensive medicine. Purchase Health Insurance across State Lines Americans residing in a state with expensive health insurance plans are locked into those plans and do not currently have an opportunity to choose a lower cost option that best meets their needs. We will allow individuals to buy health care coverage outside of the state in which they live. Expand Health Savings Accounts Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) are popular savings accounts that provide costeffective health insurance to those who might otherwise go uninsured. We will improve HSAs by making it easier for patients with high-deductible health plans to use them to obtain access to quality care. We will repeal the new health care law, which prevents the use of these savings accounts to purchase over-the-counter medicine. Ensure Access for Patients with Pre-Existing Conditions Health care should be accessible for all, regardless of pre-existing conditions or past illnesses. We will expand state high-risk pools, reinsurance programs and reduce the cost of coverage. We will make it illegal for an insurance company to deny coverage to someone with prior coverage on the basis of a pre-existing condition, eliminate annual and lifetime spending caps, and prevent insurers from dropping your coverage just because you get sick. We will incentivize states to develop innovative programs that lower premiums and reduce the number of uninsured . Permanently Prohibit Taxpayer Funding of Abortion We will establish a government-wide prohibition on taxpayer funding of abortion and subsidies for insurance coverage that includes abortion. This prohibition would go further and enact into law what is known as the Hyde Amendment as well as ban other instances of federal subsidies for abortion services. We will also enact into law conscience protections for health care providers, including doctors, nurses, and hospitals.

Two, sell insurance across state lines which will allow the insurance companies to move their headquarters to the state which has minimum or zero restrictions on the type or costs of health insurance. Three, Health Savings Accounts which will allow people to pay for their own health costs. This will allow employers to pull away from their provision of health insurance for their employees. Four, ensure access to those with pre-existing conditions. Ensure??? How? Five, we will make it illegal -----. Again, how exactly? Six, incentivize states to -----. Again, how exactly? Seven, prohibit taxpayer funding of abortions. No surprise here. Eight, conscience protections for health care providers who refuse, provide, pay for, or refer patients to abortion providers. James, I started to refute your comment, then stopped when I realized it was just your usual drivel. At least the Republicans sent something to be discussed rather than using fraud to stuff down the throats of citizens a bill that steals their rights to buy the insurance that meets their needs and doesn't increase their costs from five thousand a year to twelve thousand a year with a decrease in benefits. Your Democrats bill was passed with no review, no discussions in the dark of night and no Republicans. It rips coverage from the Medicare folks who must have Medicare to receive their Social Security benefits which they paid for with a gun to their heads. The Democrat Obamacare does not cover health care, nor provide medical care, it does nothing but steal money from seniors and workers to feed the Leftists egos and pocketbooks.

Dee #1, the willingness of those on the left to be moved from their beliefs regardless of how big a failure they prove to be is mindboggling. Their answers and solutions don't have to work because they can just throw more money we don't have at their solutions when they fail. The war on poverty is the bench mark for leftists mentality. $16 trillion dollars later there are more in poverty than ever. Yet suggesting there may be another way, jobs for example, is said to be drivel and uncaring. Wanting to starve children and deny -fill in the blank-. The gift provided thru comment sections such as these is the opportunity for people who have been exposed to the endless deceit offered by the left a chance to see how the mind (for lack of a more accurate term) of the left functions. They tap dance and obviscate and do their best to misdirect attention from the overwhelming failures of everything leftism thru all the typical slanderous, demeaning, mischaracterizations and people who typically don't engage in politics get to see it. The left defines themselves within these sections. In the end common sense prevails. There are hundreds of people who read these and they can see the difference between the illusion the left casts about itself and the reality of what they are. Just look at the lengths they are will to go to defend obama lying to the American people about one of the most important things in their lives. The truth is like a pocket of air trapped at the bottom of a pond. Nothing will keep it from reaching the surface at some point. There is a term for what happens to people when they are exposed to something for the first time and then see it repeatedly immediately afterward. It is why I consider what we do here as planting corn. The Baader-Meinhof Phenomenon. Faith is the belief in things you cannot see.

Well, time will tell, Obamacare or replacement 'improvements' from the Tea/Republicans. Let's continue this discussion in three years, and we will see then who knew what they were talking about today. Dee and Cookie, have a great turkey day. I always want to take my wife out to save her from the work, but all the good restaurants serve turkey roll -- ugh. Went to Ruth Chris last year and wonderful presentation but -- turkey roll! So, appears my wife will be cooking real turkey this year. However, if anyone on the site knows of a good restaurant that serves real turkey, please let me know as I know how much work it is for my wife. Until our children left home my wife always did the real turkey thing, but now that we are without children at home I really want to save her from the effort. And, what wife wouldn't want a Thanksgiving dinner in a nice restaurant that serves real turkey -- perhaps my impossible dream.

James...we cook real turkey at the community center up here on the 28th. we ha 200 people last year...all economic levels. The more people the better...because some of our shy seniors will come in if they see people. 12-4 on the 28th...it is a gift from the Pollock Pines center to everyone. Turkey, potatoes, gravy, veggies, dessert, and lots of laughter to take a moment to celebrate what good has happened for us through the year. The best part is just watching people enjoy themselves at a table. You cant help but leave with a smile.

Yes, I volunteered here a couple times at Thanksgiving some years ago (?). Everyone had a smile, the food was great. The proportions were substantial and I had to my surprise I had to be directed to serve larger portions.

You call this fighting, and fighting is fun? No, your mentor is a showboat like Cruz and is paid to post, post and post. You and yours are very much a minority and always will be. It gives you purpose, I understand.

Patrice, as I know nothing about you, you know nothing about me. And yes I do consider answering ill conceived logic of Leftist fun. However, this is but one tool I use in the fight for sanity and Constitional government in my arsenal. As for Senator Cruz, I applaud and admire home for his intellect, keeping his word to his constituents, determination and his fight for the good of the Country. I personally would like to see him as a Supreme Court Justice. But what happens in the future happens. As far as being in the minority, so? The minority has a long history of being right and victorious.

Dee #1, I gave up thinking I was in charge of ANYTHING a long time ago and realized when it comes to this country and the preservation of freedom it probably will be broken before it gets fixed. My single minded motive is my kids and grandkids. I am determined to help enough people understand the evil that is leftism that they will help save this country for my kids and grandkids. To say I enjoy making fun of the braindead useless idiot lemmings in a colossal understatement. They make such easy fodder why wouldn't you? They can recite their dumb@$$ talking points and then they are out of bullits (Steve Mcqueen). Which is when the fall back on their typical -fill in the blank accusations-. You would think after the intellectual beating and embarrassment they suffer on a daily basis they might have the self-respect to question what they have been indoctrinated to believe. But the just aren't bright enough to even do that. They illustrate the decline of the human intellect. And they are proud of it. May you live in interesting times.

Patrice sweety, please try and keep up. Cruz was illustrating the need to delay the individual mandate. I do believe that is exactly what the liar-in-chief offered in his speech the other day because his intellectual brainchild turned out to be what all us ignoramuses including Cruz told all you smart people it would be. A few things that are a neon light when identifying braindead leftists, when you look them in the eye you see the back of their skull, they all have an expression on their face like they just ate a lemon and they are all so far behind they think they are first.

Yes, that's absolutely open minded of you Patrice. Some of us actually do foray into the HuffPo to see what is being generated. Some of us, (myself) come from a family of liberal writers and film producers. At times I have seen there viewpoint and we do have spirited debates. When , as they do many times cannot see anything but there opinion and ideology as the right way. But even they are now hard pressed when it comes to defending this debacle of a program and president. You truly have no leg to stand on when you act as a useful idiot. You stand only on the legs of those you follow blindly. How can you formulate an opinion if you only see one side of the issue???

Mr. Gibney, because I do not read one persons consistent attacks and lack of respect for other opinions that do not match his, you assume I read only those that match my beliefs. Not true. I read everyone's posts even when they bore me, except the cookie person's. The venom outweighs any possible information. Obviously, I even read yours. Why would you assume this? This is taken from your 4:41 pm post "When, as they do many times cannot see anything but there opinion and ideology as the right way." This describes the cookie person and perhaps you to a tee. This is why leftism is the gift that just keeps giving. One of the obamabots who wrote the incompetent One a fan letter because she was so overwhelmed by his benevolent generosity with ocommycare got a personal shoutout from him during one of his infamous hypnotic Shakespearian teleprompter readings. Well it turns out not so good for the useful idiot since she not only doesn't qualify for a taxpayer funded subsidy and by signing up her son for Medicaid she gets no tax credit and she cannot afford the ocommycare savings, oops, I mean cost. http://washingtonstatewire.com/

The cronyism, the laundering of taxpayer money, the political paybacks that make for the stench that comes from the bowels of leftism always come full circle at some point down the road and connect the dots of corruption. I was reading about the pay off to calpers and calstrs from jp morgan over the mortgage derivatives caused by the leftist version of equal home ownership, so I decided to look into how much money jp morgan gave to the obama campaign. The gave LOTS. But that isn't what caught my eye. It turns out University of California was the largest contributor to obama's 2008 campaign. Thus explaining big sis napolitano's easy transition and obvious selection to her new position at the public trough. I do love how the left takes care of their own while those who keep voting for them live in squalor. http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?cid=N00009638

It seems as though flotus has as much aversion to the truth as her hubby. She was quoted in a speech at a New York city fundraiser (the only thing the obama's do admirably) with this gem. " “We don’t believe in handouts. We don’t think anyone should get a free ride”. The only question is whether or not she maintained a straightface as she struggled with enunciating the words.

Typically when a train wreck occurs the course of action is to shut down and redirect other trains away from the scene. In the case of ocommycare the left is pouring the coals on with all other train traffic headed head on into the pile up. This is proving to be funnier than the old physical comedies from the days of silent movies. If laughter releases endorphins and endorphins are good for you health and well being then ocommycare will improve everyone's health by accident. YES, I do enjoy making fun of what the left offers as the smartest among them. How could you not? Unless you actually believed the nonsense they peddle.

We have reached that point again. Viewpoint conversion score sheet: 0 - 0 which just validates the art of persuasion is dead. The axiom being applied is: "If I am correct, then you are absolutely wrong because I do not take positions to be wrong which just reinforces why I am correct." Still in search of the winning formula..
