A night of Celtic and Americana at the Coz

By From page B7 | August 16, 2013

Two Sacramento groups will perform at the Cozmic Café, 594 Main St. in Placerville,  on Saturday, Aug.17.

The first band is Stepping Stone, a trio (quartet for the night) that plays traditional Celtic and Americana on guitar, fiddle, mandolin and bodhran.

The second group is two-time SAMMIES-winning Whiskey and Stitches, a hard-edged band that blends Irish folk, Americana, country, punk and rock with influences that include The Pogues, Dubliners, Clancy Brothers, Flogging Molly, Dropkick Murphys, Tossers, Utah Phillips, Ralph Stanley, The Ramones and Social Distortion.

Whiskey and Stitches has performed at the Sonora Celtic Festival, twice performed at the great KVMR Celtic Festival in Grass Valley, and just finished a gig playing after Young Dubliners as part of Reno’s Eurofest for the fourth year running.

This is the first visit for both bands to Placerville.

The evening shows music from its traditional roots to 21st century variations.

The show is from 8 to 9 p.m. and is $7.
