Adult summer reading club fun at the library

By From page B5 | June 01, 2012

It’s summertime; hot days, camping trips, kids out of school, and visits to local swimming holes.

Summer means it’s once again time to find solace from the heat and boredom with an array of fun events at the El Dorado County Library.

Adults, 18 and older, lose themselves “Between the Covers” of a book during the Adult Summer Reading Club running June 1 through Aug. 31 at the Main Library, 345 Fair Lane in Placerville.

For each book read, fill out a page from our summer reading club booklet and drop them in the boat-shaped raffle box for a chance to win fun prizes.

Registration begins Friday, June 1 with the first 25 participants receiving a free book bag and goodies.

Inspired by this year’s “Nighttime” theme, the Library has programs to immerse readers in both the nocturnal realm and the world of words.

Nighttime is the time for dreams (and sometimes nightmares); a time for those who roam the earth under the cover of darkness; a time for moonlight, magic and stars.

Join Amy Bruni, paranormal investigator, from the hit Syfy television show “Ghost Hunters” at the library on Saturday, July 7 at 11 a.m.

Meet bats and learn about their nighttime activities with Northern California Bats on Saturday, July 21 at 10 a.m.

Put your personal memoir between the covers of a book with a memoir-writing class on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 1 p.m. Registration is required for this class with Nick Rotondo of the El Dorado Writers Guild.

or more information on these events, visit the library programs and events calendar on the library’s Website eldoradolibrary.org or contact the library at 530-621-5540.
