The Marshall Grange is pleased to announce a special summertime concert with Bay Area musicians Misner and Smith in A Summer Evening of Stories and Songs, Saturday, July 28 beginning at 8 p.m.

Tickets are $10 in advance, $12 at the door and $8 for grangers. They are available at Rose’s Garden Café and the Golden Gecko Garden Center in Garden Valley, Cherry Records in Auburn, Main Street Music in Placerville, online at brownpapertickets or by phoning 530-642-8671.

Sam Misner and Megan Smith first met in a production of the musical “Woody Guthrie’s American Song.”

Combining the sound of Smith’s upright bass and mandolin and Misner’s guitar with perfectly blended harmonies, they perform roots music that has been described as “the perfect balance between traditional and contemporary.”

As actors and musicians, they have a special stage presence that will take the audience for a wonderful ride down a road of stories, jokes and songs reminiscent of the early days of Simon and Garfunkel.

Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, they have earned a solid following throughout the west coast. As one reviewer put it, “… with a timeless San Francisco sound and revitalized imagery in their ever-poetic songwriting, Misner and Smith are a duo not to be missed.”

To learn more about this duo and sample some of the music go to misnerandsmith.com.

They will be performing at the Marshall Grange as part of a tour promoting the duo’s recently released third album, “Recorded Live at the Freight and Salvage.” This is a chance to hear them in a friendly and intimate setting making for a good time. It will be perfect music for a mellow summer evening.

The Marshall Grange is located at 4940 Marshall Road in Garden Valley. Directions may be found at marshallgrange.org.
