Arts Incubator seeks new owner for big event

A premier event of the El Dorado Arts Council, Coloma Blues Live! has generated measurable funding for arts programs throughout El Dorado County. Now, there’s an opportunity for another business or organization to benefit from a seven-year track record.

“Coloma Blues Live! has received the full force of the arts council’s dedication for seven years. We’ve had a blast with this event. Now, it’s time for us to launch new endeavors and new partnerships. Incubation — starting and nurturing arts events and ideas — is a core aspect of our business model. We are looking for a new owner for Coloma Blues Live! We want the event to continue to thrive,” said Deb Jensen, executive director of the El Dorado Arts Council.

Coloma Blues Live! has a track record of sustainable revenue due to a loyal fan following and sponsor base, resulting in positive economic impact for the region.

Initiating an event such as Coloma Blues Live! is never easy, yet the arts council has consistently upped the game from year to year to continue the draw of great talent and loyal fans. With increased economy of scale and increased efficiency and management, it is anticipated that Coloma Blues Live! will increase in annual revenue.

Consistent profit over time is one sign of success. The blues concert’s impact on the economy of El Dorado County and the Coloma area has also been significant.

Economic measures estimate that the event has consistently driven over a quarter million dollars in economic impact on an aggregate basis of seven years.

Typical lineups span the blues genre from prominent and influential figures in blues and roots music to powerhouse delta sounds. Fresh new style, high-energy showmanship, and original songs that bring music enthusiasts, of any age, to their feet are the hallmarks of Coloma Blues Live!

Like the Gold Rush drawing in people from all over the region and beyond, Coloma Blues Live! hosts blues fans and the like celebrating in a historic and inspiring setting along the banks of the South Fork American River.

Top talent is the key to success

The arts council has focused on attracting top names in the music business to ensure patron satisfaction. A few artists that have joined the Coloma Blues Live! stage include Elvin Bishop, Los Lobos, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, Robert Cray Band, Taj Mahal, Tommy Castro Band, Laurie Morvan, John Nemeth and the Sugar Thieves.

The magic of the venue

The Coloma-Lotus Valley is well known as a destination for its great rafting, camping, kayaking and whitewater rapids.

The location is also known for award-winning wine vintages and the California Gold Rush.

“The El Dorado Arts Council has worked diligently over the years to build a strong event. We believe that Coloma Blues Live! is now positioned to grow beyond its regional boundaries into a truly national event,” said Jensen.
