Fugitive’s home burglarized

COOL — While homicide suspect Jesse James Felcman was hiding out in San Jose last weekend, a Cool resident allegedly burglarized his mobile home on Indian Rock Road.

Felcman’s neighbors called sheriff’s officers about 6 p.m. Sunday after they reportedly saw someone walking around inside Felcman’s mobile home with a flashlight. The neighbors watched as a pickup truck drove away from the mobile home and stopped at a nearby house on White Horse Road belonging to 37-year-old David Louise Nuse.

An officer arrived, drove to Nuse’s home and questioned him about the incident. Nuse told the officer he heard a cow lowing and decided to check on the animal’s welfare …

The officer then asked Nuse if he had taken any property from the area. Nuse reportedly said he saw a camera, camera lenses and a pair of binoculars lying on the road leading to the mobile home …

The officer reportedly noticed that the camera equipment and binoculars were dry and clean and wondered why this was so when the road to Felcman’s home was wet and muddy …

Coloma Goal of Thousands On Centennial

El Dorado County, through its county centennials committee, and people of Coloma and vicinity in particular, are prepared to participate Saturday in the observance of the one hundredth anniversary of the discovery of gold by James W. Marshall at Sutter’s Mill.

The principal event of the day which the county centennials committee has arranged, is the historical parade at 11:15 o’clock Saturday morning, which will be led by the noted star of western films, Roy Rogers, riding his favorite horse, “Trigger”. Mrs. Rogers, Dale Evans of the films, will ride beside her husband.

As has been the custom for several years, the people of Coloma and vicinity have arranged the gold discovery centennial dance in which costumes of the pioneer period will predominate, to be held Saturday night at the Coloma Community Hall …

One of the features of the county’s participation in the celebration at Coloma will be the mining exhibit and demonstration … This is set up in a huge tent near the site of Sutter’s Mill and will include an exhibit of gold taken from the mines in the county as well as a demonstration of every known type of gold mining operations, from the humble gold panning and arrastra to the modern stamp and ball mills …

Amending the Game Laws

One of the most important matters to come up before the Legislature will be the proposed amendments to the game laws. At the recent Fish and Game Convention held at Monterey, a bill to divide the State into game districts pursuant to the Constitutional Amendment adopted at the November election, was drawn up, and it is understood Senator Tyrrell of Nevada will have charge of it.

Under the bill, the State is divided into three game districts, the first comprising the counties of El Dorado, Placer, Nevada, Sierra, Plumas, Lassen, Modoc and Siskiyou.

In this district the present open season would be changed to read: deer, September 1 to November 1; doves, June 15 to February 15; grouse, sage hens and mountain quail, August 15 to November 15.
