At a glance: A good time to celebrate

Happy statehood to all Coloradians, Colorado became the 38th state on this date in 1876.

What better way to celebrate than to go shopping and a great place to shop is the St. Patrick Ladies’ Society annual rummage sale on Thursday, Aug. 2 to Saturday, Aug. 4. The 75th sale is at St. Patrick Catholic Church, Sacramento and Fiske streets in Placerville. The doors of the church hall open at 9 a.m. Shoppers can find appliances, clothing, toys, bedding and linens, jewelry and other treasures.

 

Cool cave

Toogood Estate Winery, 7280 Fairplay Road in Fair Play, is celebrating summer with a sangria party in the cool cave with lunch and sangria and stemware for $6 or complimentary to wine club members. The parties are on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 17, 18 and 19.Call the winery at 530-620-1910 for reservations and detailed menu information. Party time

Pine Lodge, 6231 Pony Express Trail, is having a 10 year anniversary party on Saturday, Aug. 4. There will be complimentary barbecue, horseshoes and fun. Music by Jonny Mojo starts at 4 p.m. For more details call 530- 644-2413.

 

Find Zinman

Perry Creek Vineyards, 7400 Perry Creek Road in Fair Play, is having its fifth annual Hunt For Zinman Party on Saturday, Aug. 4 from 5:30 to 10 p.m. The celebration begins with dinner on the veranda. As the sun begins to set and the full moon rises, guests will take a tour through the vineyards and walk through the home of Zinman. Enjoy a glass of wine and see if you can steal a glimpse of Zinman dancing amongst the vines. To see about reservations call 530-620-5175.

 

Anniversary party

Mellowood Vineyard, 2979 Mellowood Drive in Fair Play, is having a second anniversary celebration and dance party on Saturday, 
Aug. 4. Ken Simms and his seven-piece band, will rock classics from 6 to 9 p.m. Admission is $5 and includes the first glass of wine. A barbecue dinner will also be available for sale. To insure a table seat RSVP to vintner Linda Neal at 530-306-9454.

 

Music

The talented Rick Hussong and Jamie Lynn are singing at Powell’s Steamer Company and Pub, 425 Main St. in Placerville, on Saturday, Aug. 4 at 9 p.m. and then more good music is by Jonny Mojo and Friends on Sunday, Aug. 5 at 1 p.m. For all the specifics call 530-626-1091.

 

Delicious sounds

Lots of sweet and happy music will ring out in a concert Sunday, Aug. 5 at 3 p.m. at the Federated Church, 1031 Thompson Way in Placerville, as the talents of area musicians are showcased in “Sounds Delicious! A Benefit Concert for the Food Bank.” There is no admission charge. This event is a gift to the community so that anyone may enjoy live, quality music. Donations of nonperishable food items and money for the Food Bank will be accepted. The Food Bank is a nonprofit that partners with many charities around the county. Help

There will be a Help Find Linnea Lomax Dinner and Silent Auction on Sunday, Aug. 5 at Cold Springs Community Church, 2600 Cold Springs Road in Placerville. Three bands — The Reel, Rivertown and Of Love And War — will perform a family friendly concert. A suggested donation of $10 for individuals and $20 for families is requested.
