Congratulations to the Ponderosa High School Academic Decathlon team. Not only did the team bring home a 21st consecutive victory in the El Dorado County competition, the team scored big at the state level. The annual competition tests knowledge in 10 academic disciplines. Cody Hannah earned a bronze in economics; Joey Costello won a silver in economics, gold in speech and was the highest scoring team member; Jacob Hansen won gold in economics, bronze in essay and silver in math. Other team members were: Taylor Bartosh, Beth Strutz, Morgan Henry, Russell Byrd, Jeremiah James, Ryan Aguilar, Dylan Musgrove, Tristan Melton, Eric Melton and Kelsea Maloney-Johnson. At Fenton Harriott Winery, 120 Jacquier Court in Placerville, the competition continues with the start of the Spring Bocce Ball League on Friday, March 28. The league of eight teams meet every Friday night from 6 to 8:30 p.m. At the end of the season in May the top four teams will play in a single elimination play-off to determine the champions. The winning team will win a case of Fenton Herriott wines. Bottles of wine are available to purchase during the league play. It is potluck style, so players can bring some food to share. There will be multiple winners at the annual Cameron Park Community Services District annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 30 at Rasmussen Park on Mira Loma Drive. The Easter Bunny arrives on the fire engine at 10 a.m. and the hunt begins at 10:20 a.m. The Easter Bunny will be available for pictures at about 11 a.m. The egg hunt is for children 10 and under. Get a winning feeling by completing a painting of a beautiful Tuscan Villa. Local artist Vicki Hough is teaching a painting class at Grace Patriot Wines , 2701 Carson Road in Placerville, on Saturday, March 30 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. At Pinot and Paint artists will also enjoy Grace Patriot’s award-winning wines. Reach a pinnacle at Mount Aukum Winery, 6781 Tower Road in Mount Aukum, at a special event on Saturday, March 30. From 1 to 4 p.m. guests can Dance the Line and Drink Some Wine.
