All the rain has sure greened up the landscape and ensures that the wildflowers will be beautiful.

A stop by the El Dorado County Government Center, building B, 360 Fair Lane in Placerville, also ensures a pleasant scene with the annual Diamond Springs Art Association Spring Art Show and Sale. The art is on display through Friday, April 6 and features portraits, florals, seascapes, still lifes and landscapes. Laugh it up

Wedgewood Wedding and Banquet Center at Sequoia, 643 Bee St. in Placerville, continues Comedy Night on Wednesday, April 4 with funny man Dan Barnhart. The doors open at 7 p.m. with music by Tamra Godey and guests and the comedy starts at 8 p.m. in the Empire Ballroom. Tickets are $15 by reservation and $20 at the door. Training

The Hangtown Kennel Club is starting Obedience, Rally and Conformation classes on Thursday, April 5. All sessions run for six weeks and are held at 7 p.m. at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, 100 Placerville Drive in Placerville. Classes include conformation, puppy kindergarten, beginning, intermediate, novice and rally obedience. There are some people who should take these classes. Music

Powell’s Steamer Company and Pub, 425 Main St. in Placerville, is having some great music to celebrate spring. On Thursday, April 5 J. Woody is playing favorites from the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s and some originals. Then on Saturday, April 7 Rick Hussong and Friends will be entertaining. Powell’s will be closed on Sunday, April 8. Rain delay

Spring Breakin’ Out Poker Run 2012 — Ride for CASA El Dorado is Saturday, April 7. Registration is from 9 to 11 a.m. at Folsom Harley-Davidson, 115 Woodmere Road. For more information go to Michael.barbour@folsomhog.org.

Hoppy time

Kiwanis of Placerville will have its annual Easter Egg Hunt on the grassy area at Lion’s Park, Cedar Ravine Road and Country Club Drive, on Saturday, April 7. The Easter Bunny and his helpers will have things eggstra ready for children ages 3 to 6 to start at 10 a.m. and children 7 to 10 to start at 11 a.m. Refreshments will be available with free hot dogs for the kids, games and prizes. The Easter Bunny is also hopping to Cameron Park for the annual Community Services Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, April 7, at Rasmussen Park on Mira Loma Drive in Cameron Park. The eggsceptional hunt for children 10 and under starts at 10:20 a.m. After the hunt the Easter Bunny will be available for pictures at about 11a.m. and there will be face painting and a bounce house available for a nominal fee. After all that eggsploring a nice brunch could be a good idea. A big hunt is not needed. The Sierra Nevada House and Wedgewood Wedding and Banquet Center at Sequoia are both serving spectacular meals.

Sierra Nevada House, 835 Lotus Road in Coloma, is having an Easter Brunch on Sunday, April 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Some buffet items are: sausage, bacon, country potatoes, all kinds of eggs, waffles, blintzes, fruit, smoked salmon tartare, salads, and breads and pastries. Sequoia, 643 Bee St. in Placerville, is serving brunch from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, April 8. The buffet will offer: fruits, breads and pastries, bacon, sausage, eggs, leg of lamb, snow crab, potatoes and baron of beef and more. To dine call 530-622-5222.

Homerun

The Union Mine High School baseball program is having a fundraiser. Travel time

The El Dorado Hills Chamber of Commerce is organizing a chance to travel to Russia from Sept. 2 to 12. Travelers will cruise down the Volga River and learn about Russian culture, cuisine, art, and history and sight see in Moscow and St. Petersburg.
