On this date in 1902, Theodore Roosevelt became the first United States President to ride in an automobile. He liked doing fun and new things and probably would have enjoyed the Thursday night car show in Placerville.

The Placerville Lions Club and the Placerville Downtown Association are presenting the Hangtown Car Show on Thursday, Aug. 23 from 5 to 8 on Main Street in Placerville between Bedford Avenue and Sacramento Street. Songs at Synapse

The charming and talented Tamra Godey is playing at Synapse Wines, 304 Main St. in Placerville, on Saturday, Aug. 25. She will be playing some of her new story songs that pair well with Synapse Wines. For more details call 530-626-9463

 

Saturday at SNH

Another popular singer, Greg Costa is playing at the Sierra Nevada House, 835 Lotus Road in Coloma, on Friday, Aug 24. He has a great collection of originals that tell many thought provoking tales. For more information call 530-626-8096.

 

Mega fun

On Saturday, Aug. 25 there will be a Mega Reunion at the El Dorado County Fairgrounds, 100 Placerville Drive in Placerville. Students who attended Ponderosa, Oak Ridge or El Dorado high school between 1983 to 1990 are invited for a day and evening of fun, visiting and dancing. Check in starts at 10 a.m. There will be activities during the day, food by Twice Baked Potato and music in the evening by Inspector 71. Cost is $35 per person or $60 for a couple. Courtyard concert

Music in the Courtyard on Saturday, Aug. 25 is by The Pickups. This group has made many local appearances and is always a great band to dance to. The music at the Fountain Plaza Courtyard, 312 Main St. in Placerville, from 1 to 4 p.m. Refreshments available from Fountain Courtyard merchants. For a full musical line up call 530-622-4900.

 

Luau party

Fenton Herriott Vineyards, 120 Jacquier Court in Placerville, is having a Hawaiian Luau on Saturday, Aug. 25 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Celebrate the summer and upcoming harvest Hawaiian style with wine and plenty of Hawaiian style food along with Hawaiian music and dancers. Playing at Powell’s

Larry Park and Val Pease are appearing at Powell Steamer Company and Pub, 425 Main St. in Placerville, on Saturday, Aug. 25 at 9 p.m. Powell’s also has Out of the Blue on Sunday, Aug 26 at 1 p.m. and the fun singer-songwriter night on Wednesday, Aug. 29 at 7 p.m. For more information call 530-626-1091.
