Summer is here and there are so many fantastic things to do.

Enjoy free wine tasting and celebrate the centennial of chardonnay on Wednesday, June 27, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the California Welcome Center, 2085 Vine St., Suite 105 in El Dorado Hills. The center and the El Dorado Winery Association are offering tastes from Cielo Estate, Colibri Ridge, Fenton-Herriott, Lava Cap, Madroña, Miraflores, and Sierra Vista with appetizers provided by West Coast Events.

On Thursday, June 28, Powell’s Steamer Company and Pub, 425 Main St. in Placerville, is having music by Rick Hussong and Jaime Lynn at 7 p.m. Stop by for a night of good sounds and good times.

More good sounds and some great wine are on the calendar for Friday, June 29. Uncommon Ground is performing at Boeger Winery, 1709 Carson Road in Placerville, from 5 to 8 p.m. The popular band will also be playing at Fenton Herriott Winery, 120 Jaquier Court in Placerville, on Saturday, June 30 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Cedar Springs Waldorf School is having its Taste of the Foothills benefit on Saturday, June 30 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Smith Flat House, 2021 Smith Flat Road in Placerville. This is a lovely event with great food and wine from El Dorado County’s finest. There will also be a stunning variety of two-and three-dimensional art pieces and gift certificates up for auction. Tickets are $30 and can be purchased by calling 530-642-9903.

Taco Tuesday at Durango’s Mexican Restaurant, 263 Placerville Drive in Placerville, not only serves up some super tacos but there is music by Eric Hill and Jonny Mojo from 5 to 8 p.m. during July. For more information call 530-626-0841.
