It should be perfect weather to view the Perseid meteor shower on the nights of Saturday, Aug. 11 and Sunday, Aug.12. This is one of the best annual displays and can deliver a spectacular 90 meteors per hour. Get those shooting star wishes ready and enjoy the show.

 

Rocking dance

An other great night will be happening at the Sierra Banquet Center, Log Cabin Café, 3220 Pondorado Road in Camino, on Friday, Aug. 10 and Aug. 17 with music by Chad Stalzer Productions. A dinner of tri-tip sandwiches and sautéed mushrooms and onions or complete tri-tip meal is served from 4.30 p.m. The regular menu and new appetizer are also available. The DJ music and dancing starts at 7 p.m. and goes until 10 p.m. There is no cover charge with a food or beverage purchase or it is $5. For more information call 530-644-0345.

 

Sunset fun

Tony Windle and Scott Reams will be joined by popular percussionist Mario Sebastion and other special guests at Boeger Winery, 1709 Carson Road in Placerville, for Sunset Sippin’ on Friday, Aug. 10 fro 5 to 8 p.m. There is no charge, however there is a $5 per car parking fee. Good cause

The talented quartet of singers Katherine Sorgea, Aly Chavez, Lauryn Caruso, and Savannah Argyle are presenting a benefit concert on Friday, Aug. 10 at 7 p.m. at Sun Hills Church in El Dorado Hills. Admission is free but donations will be accepted for Run for Courage, a non-profit organization committed to ending human sex trafficking.  For more information, call 916.605.9445.

 

Cool time

Uncommon Ground is playing at Sierra Nevada House, 835 Lotus Road in Coloma, on Friday, Aug. 10 in the outdoor café from 8 to 10 p.m. The cool evening breeze off of the American River makes this a great place to be. For more information call 530-636-8096.

 

Soul time

Music in the Courtyard, Fountain Plaza Courtyard, 312 Main Street in Placerville, this Saturday, Aug. 11 will feature Frankie Soul and No Control from 1 to 4 p.m. Admission is free and refreshments are available from Fountain Courtyard merchants. To get a summer line up call 530-622-4900.

 

Music at the Bistro

Saturday at the Park

The popular Saturday Night in the Park at the El Dorado Hills Community Services District on Harvard Way is Saturday, Aug. 11 from 5 to 9 p.m. There will be lots of fun, people, food, entertainment, wine tasting, free giveaways, prizes and live music. To get all the specifics call 916-933-1335.

 

Back to school

Pollock Pines will again be rocking on Saturday, Aug. 11 at the Pony Express Plaza at the corner of Sly Park Road and Pony Express Trail. Tasting fun

Suicide Prevention Education Action Resources (SPEAR) is having a Wine and Olive Oil Tasting Event on Saturday, Aug. 11 from 7 to 9 p.m. at the  Holiday Inn Express, 4360 Town Center Drive in El Dorado Hills. Tickets are $20 per person and $35 per couple in advance or $25 per person on the day of the event. All proceeds go to the SPEAR program. Call Vivian Figueira at 530-676-2119 to get tickets.
