It is time to help the wishes at the Special Olympics come true with the annual Tip-a-Cop fundraiser at Applebee’s, 3281 Coach Lane in Cameron Park, on Thursday, April 18 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. and from 5 to 8 p.m. All proceeds from the event go directly to programs for Special Olympics in El Dorado County. Pedro Perez, a photography teacher at Sacramento City College, is presenting a lecture on night photography at the El Dorado Camera Club meeting. The meeting is at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 19 at the Cameron Park Community Center, 2502 Country Club Drive in Cameron Park. The lecture is free and open to the public. The El Dorado High School Cougar Band Aides, the support group for the music program, is presenting an afternoon of music, food, auction and prizes on Saturday, April 21. A Taste of Main Street is from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Carl Borelli Amphitheater, on the El Dorado High School campus, 561 Canal St. in Placerville. Money from the event will go to pay for uniforms, music, transportation, interment maintenance and entry fees in competitions. Attendees will enjoy special boxed meals while listening to music provided by El Dorado Cougar musicians and special guest Azuar. Tickets are $15 for the dinner and music. Another of the many venues to take in the talent is Up Stairs Art Gallery, 420 Main St. in Placerville. This Third Saturday walk up the stairs to see “The Art of Abstraction” encaustic exhibit by Suzanne Bell from 6 to 9 p.m. Her work is fascinating. There will also be music by local band Moondrool.
Hill Country Band is playing at Zia’s, 312 Main St. in Placerville, on Saturday, April 21 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. and all proceeds will go to the Center for the Visually Impaired to sponsor Mickey in the Dog-a-Thon. Stop by a make wishes for the Center for the Visually Impaired come true.
