At a glance: Sept. 26, 2012 An apple a day

Escabar_Mimi 2009

For the members of the Apple Hill Growers Association it is a big day. Johnny Appleseed was born on this date in 1774. Jonathan Chapman recognized the value of apples and introduced apple trees to Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana and Illinois. El Dorado County is fortunate to be a great place for growing apples and we are even luckier to have this great fruit-growing in jar backyard. Some of the apple varieties are ready now at Apple Hill member ranches and more are ripening daily. There apple already picked, you-pick ranches, apple goodies and more at many of the ranches. The shuttle bus from Louisiana Schnell School runs on weekends in October. Check out info@applehill.com for more information.
