The two author/illustrators bring their storytelling skills and new Christmas books to Face in A Book and will also give drawing demonstrations before moving into an ornament making activity. If that doesn’t put you in the Christmas spirit, then read their childrens’ books.
“An Otis Christmas,” by New York Times bestselling author, Loren Long, bursts on the senses with colorful, vintage-type illustrations and a story of Otis, the tractor, who braves danger on a snowy Christmas night to bring a new life into the world.
“Little Santa,” by Jon Agee answers some of your most burning questions about Santa’s Christmas traditions.
Find out, in this captivating and humorous tale why Santa comes down the chimney, where he hooked up with the elves and why he lives at the North Pole. With bright, endearing illustrations, this book will surely become a Christmas tradition in your family.
Agee has been writing and illustrating books since he was small, drawing the pictures and dictating the stories to his mother who wrote them down. He said his first drawings were always very animated —flying airplanes, racing cars and football players.
He is the author/illustrator of 24 picture and word play books, including “Milo’s Hat Trick” and “Ludlow Laughs,” and “Go Hang a Salami! I’m a Lasagna Hog!” and has illustrated books by William Steig and Erica Silverman, among others.
Agee lives in San Francisco with his wife Audrey.
Long grew up in Kentucky and illustrated greeting cards at the beginning of his career. He worked as a free-lance illustrator for publications Sports Illustrated, Time and Reader’s Digest before writing and illustrating his own books.
Long has written and illustrated seven books featuring the delightful Otis as well as illustrating a 2005 re-issuing of one of his favorite books as a child, “The Little Engine That Could,” President Barack Obama’s “Of Thee I Sing,” “Nightsong,” by Ari Berk, Frank McCourt’s “Angela and the Baby Jesus,” and many others.
