Béla Fleck and Marcus Roberts Trio play at Three Stages

SBL Entertainment and HuskyShows present Grammy-nominated Béla Fleck and the Marcus Roberts Trio, with Jason Marsalis and Rodney Johnson, in an exciting collaboration described by All About Jazz as “a diversity of pleasures … The fruit of these four musicians’ labor is as seamless as their approach is fearless.”

Executive Director Dave Pier noted that, “While Three Stages does much presenting of international artists, our partners are consistently bringing great events to Three Stages. SBL Entertainment and HuskyShows should take a bow — this will be an exceptional show.”

Béla Fleck and the Marcus Trio will perform in Three Stages on Wednesday, Sept. 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $39 to $59; they are available online at threestages.net or from Three Stages ticket office at 916-608-6888 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday and two hours before show time. Tickets are also available at all Dimple Records locations.

Three Stages is located on the west side of Folsom Lake College campus at 10 College Parkway in Folsom.

Premier banjo player Fleck is considered one of the most innovative pickers in the world and has done much to demonstrate the versatility of his instrument, which he uses to play everything from traditional bluegrass to progressive jazz. He was named after composer Béla Bartok and was born in New York City.

When long time Marcus Roberts fan Fleck stayed late at a Savannah Music Festival jam session just to hear Roberts play, the last thing he expected was to be up on stage performing with him and his band.

A year later they had agreed to perform together for the first time at the same festival in Savannah.

The Marcus Roberts Trio is known for its virtuosic style — a style that is strongly rhythmic, melodic, and filled with dynamic contrast.

Parking is free on weekends and for those buying tickets in advance.
