‘Beyond Pink and Blue’ explores understanding

By From page B3 | March 21, 2014

Federated Church, 1031 Thompson Way in Placerville, presents “Beyond Pink and Blue: Pathways to Gender Understanding in a Changing World” on  Saturday, March 22 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.

In a culture that has clearly defined roles for boys and girls and men and women, perhaps no one completely fits the perfect image.

Join the Neighbors Group of Federated Church and Eli Stephens, a master of arts student in ethics and social theory at the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, to explore the world of gender and its place in life, in school and in the church.

Some of the questions to be discussed include: What are the unique needs of transgender kids and adults? What help is available to people with gender identity questions? How can I help a teen who is struggling with gender issues? How does the current law protect the rights of transgender kids and adults?

This program is geared for high school aged students and adults. All are welcome to attend.

Federated Church is a More Light/Reconciling Ministries congregation.

The fee is $10 for adult and $5 for high school or college student. A light lunch will be served.

Pre-registration is advised and a registration form can be downloaded at

Call the Federated Church office at 530-622-0273 for more information.
