Cal Expo and CBS Radio are joining the city and county of Sacramento to produce the largest pyrotechnics display in the area. The Independence Day Celebration is a family-oriented collection event focused around America’s birthday on Friday.
The event begins at 4:30 p.m. and features all kinds of activities including inflatable water slides, face painting, food, beverages, live music by the Chris Garner Band and a fireworks show that starts at approximately 9:30 p.m. The fireworks spectacular will run approximately 30 minutes.
The festivities are at the Miller Lite Racetrack Grandstand at Cal Expo, 1600 Exposition Blvd., in Sacramento.

General admission is free for standing room only. A limited number of $10 reserved seats will be sold online on calexpo.com. Depending on availability, reserved seat tickets may also be purchased at the East Gate box office located adjacent to Parking Lot D, beginning at 4:30 p.m. on July 4.
There will be a soccer game at Bonney Field the same night so plan accordingly. There are many options in local travel that will save time and headaches. Be sure to leave time to park or commute when coming out for the July 4 festivities or the Sacramento Republic FC game.
For more than 160 years, the California State Fair has showcased the best of California. The best will be celebrated once again at the California State Fair on July 11 to 27 at Cal Expo. Tickets to the fair start as low as $10 for adults, $6 for children, $8 for seniors and $29.99 for a season pass.
