The Cameron Park CSD Community Center has classes, activities, games and seminars for seniors.
Line dance classes are held monthly Thursdays from 1 to 2 p.m. No partners are required. Meet new friends, get some exercise and just have fun. The monthly fee is $24 for residents and $29 non-residents. Pre-registration needs to be done and can be done by calling 530-677-2231.
Functional Fitness is an exercise class that focuses on flexibility, balance and strength. Exercise will help maintain independence and manage symptoms of pain and illness.
The class is held Monday and Thursday mornings from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. The monthly fee is $59 for residents and $64 for non-residents. Pre-registration needs to be done and can be done by calling 530-677-2231.
El Dorado Nursery is sponsoring a variety of classes. Hanging Baskets will be on Tuesday, Sept. 25 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Cactus and Succulent Gardening will be on Tuesday, Oct. 23 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. The fee is $36 for residents and $41 for non-residents. Pre-registration can be done by calling 530-677-2231.
For those who enjoy playing card games and meeting new people, there are bridge groups that come in on Mondays from 1:30 p.m to 3:30 p.m. and/or Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Mah Jong takes place on the second and fourth Wednesdays of each month.
On every fourth Tuesday of the month from 10 a.m. to noon is Senior Game Day in the social room at the community center. The event is sponsored by the Cameron Park Newcomer’s Club.
Coffee, Tea, and Friends sponsored by Visiting Angels invites seniors and caregivers, to a morning of fun, games, and special speakers, while visiting with new and old friends. Come join the fun at 10 a.m. on the second Tuesday of each month. The next gathering will be held on Sept. 11. The topic for that session will be “The Next Step — Living options for the senior years and how to pay for it.”
Obtain information on how to plan for retirement and how to make retirement dollars last with the seminar “Keep the Gold in Your Golden Years” on Sept. 18 from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. The seminar is sponsored by Umpqua Bank and held at Umpqua Bank. Call 530-672-4625 to reserve a spot.

No way would I even consider signing up for any classes at the Cameron Park CSD. Maybe I will reconsider if & when they ever get their act together. That place is a joke.
