Carson Valley to hold annual clay shooting event

Two days of sporting clays at two different area clubs are featured in the Carson Valley Inn’s 27th annual Clay Shooting Outing on Feb. 21 to 25. The extended weekend includes 250 clay targets, an abundance of hearty food and $2,000 in cash prizes.

The events begin on Thursday afternoon with an optional early-bird round at the private Carson Valley Clays Club.

Squad selection for the weekend is done at a reception in the Valley Ballroom on Thursday, Feb. 21 evening with cocktails and plenty of hot and cold hors d’oeuvres. On Friday, Feb. 22 it’s off to the sprawling Walker River Resort for 15 stations of sporting clays and a steak lunch.

The clay breaking and always-present jovial camaraderie continue on Saturday in the rugged mountain-side setting of the Carson Valley Clays Club with a burger lunch after the shoot.

A gala buffet featuring game and traditional fare is Saturday night followed by the presentation of the awards.

A modified Lewis System of scoring makes it possible for shotgun enthusiasts of all levels to have an equal opportunity to share in the $2,000 in cash prizes.

The Clay Outing Hotel Package includes the Thursday evening reception, Friday and Saturday shooting, Saturday Buffet dinner, three night’s accommodations and all associated taxes and gratuities. This annual event is a great way to meet new friends and experience the variety and scenery of the shotgun shooting recreation available in the Carson Valley area.

For complete information on the 27th annual Clay Shooting Outing call the Carson Valley Inn at 775-783-6665 or get the information on-line at carsonvalleyinn.com. All participants must be 21 or over.

The Carson Valley Inn is located on U.S. Highway 395 in Minden, Nev.
