Celebrate Cinco de Mayo at MontBleu

Cinco de Mayo will sizzle Friday to Monday, May 2 to 5 at Lake Tahoe’s MontBleu Resort Casino and Spa with Cinco de Mayo-Palooza, featuring four days of live music, zesty food specials and a taco eating contest with $1,000 up for grabs.

Siesta prior to the annual fiesta because MontBleu will bring out the cervezas, sombreros, the mariachi music and flavors full of Latin spice.

Cinco de Mayo-Palooza headquarters is Café Del Soul with 99 cent tacos, margaritas and sombreros along with $2 Coronas, fish tacos and Hornitos tequila served all day every day, May 2-5.

Saturday’s main events feature live music from Cool Black Kettle and a taco eating challenge where willing contestants have 10 minutes to eat as many tacos as they can handle for a chance at the $1,000 prize. The contest is hosted by local TV personality Mike Peron and starts at 4 p.m. Guests can register at the Players Club. Spots are limited to the first 12 participants with a $25 buy in. Also, new this year is a $1,000 lime toss. Contestants can take aim to make a lime into a beer mug and will win their share of $1,000 cash.

The official Cinco de Mayo-Palooza after party inside Opal Ultra Lounge is free for anyone wearing a sombrero 10 p.m. through midnight, Saturday, May 3. Club revelers can partake in $2 Coronas and $2 Hornitos Tequila shots all night.
