Beginning Thursday, Aug. 23, the Hangtown Kennel Club of Placerville is offering its final six-week session for 2012 of obedience and conformation classes at the El Dorado Fairgrounds in Placerville.
Classes offered include both breed and obedience training. For breed work, conformation handling classes focus on the finer points of handling your dog in AKC shows. For obedience, available classes are puppy kindergarten; beginning obedience, and intermediate obedience.
Classes are held Thursdays at 7 p.m. through Sept. 27. For the Aug. 23 class only, dog owners are asked to arrive by 6:30 p.m. for the registration process and fitting of collars and leashes.
Pre-registration is required for all obedience classes. Puppy and beginning obedience is $90 (includes leash and collar). All other obedience classes are $75 for the six-week session. Conformation classes are offered on a “drop in” basis, at $5 per class. Proof of all age-appropriate vaccinations is required at the first class.
On Sept. 27, the Hangtown Kennel Club will offer a one-night special trial known as the Canine Good Citizen program. The cost is $10 per dog, and pre-registration for this popular event is encouraged.
