The historical areas from lower Colfax to Applegate are featured in this year’s Colfax Garden Club Garden and Art Tour.

There will be six wonderful gardens on the tour including a small meticulous garden; a spreading park-like estate; a hunting lodge and garden built in 1919 which was the original Heather Glen; former pheasant farms developed into delightful gardens and a lavender farm.

All of the gardens have unique features to explore. Numerous artists will be displaying their crafts, including items for sale. A list of places to eat in Colfax will be available at the gardens. A picnic area and available restrooms will be shown on the map with the ticket.

The Artists in the Garden Tour is Saturday, July 20 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Advance tickets may be purchased at Café Luna, Colfax Farm and Country Store, Brooklyn’s West Deli, Hills Flat Nursery and Dine-N-Dash Café in Colfax; Eisley’s Nursery and Avantgarden in Auburn; Weiss Brothers Nursery and Hills Flat Nursery in Grass Valley; Prospector’s Nursery in Nevada City; the Weimar Store in Weimar or the Applegate Motel and Deli in Applegate.

Day of tour tickets are available at all the above places plus at Garden No. 1, Charleston Lavender Farm, Pine Hollow and Yankee Jims Road and at Garden No. 3, Heather Glen at Highway 80, 18925 Applegate Road in Colfax.

All proceeds from this tour support community projects and the youth garden at Colfax Elementary School.
