Water slides, bounce houses, a water balloon toss, a water melon-eating contest, and a chili cook-off are all part of the festivities for the day.
There will be hot dogs, tri-tip sandwiches, cotton candy, sno-cones, popcorn and other treats. A baked pie contest is also part of the day’s activities.
Planners of the event are proud to announce entertainment for the day will be the acoustical bluegrass music of the nationally acclaimed Watkins Family, which has thrilled audiences for more than 30 year. The Atlanta Country Music Hall of Fame recently recognized that accomplishment, inducting the group into the Music Hall of Fame. The group from Toccoa, Ga, currently includes matriarch Judy Watkins and her two adult children Todd and Lorie.
The family continues to tour across the United States and Canada appearing at gospel singings, fairs, bluegrass festivals and ministerial conferences and crusades, passing nine instruments between them as they perform, including the guitar, banjo, mandolin, bass and fiddle.
The newest CD “Heaven’s Worth Waiting For” features a group at the height of their abilities. Produced by Grammy winner Mark Fain, Grammy nominee Karen Peck Gooch and Danny Jones, the CD follows the acclaimed project “Darkness Wept.”
Contact Alyce Nolan at the Pollock Pines Community Church at 530-644-2133 to participate in the chili cook-off or the baked pie contest.
The church is located at 6361 Pony Express Trail in Pollock Pines.
