CSROP instructor receives 2014 Pupils’ Choice Award

The El Dorado Union High School District and the Central Sierra Regional Occupational Program (CSROP) are excited to announce that Julie Gilroy has been awarded the 2014 Pupils’ Choice Career Technical Education (CTE) Teacher of the Year.

Gilroy has been teaching the CSROP Animal Health Program at Ponderosa High School since August 2007.

The Sacramento Metro Chamber partnered with NextEd to recognize 10 of the region’s top educators and mentors nominated by their very own students. NextEd is a not-for-profit organization that works to develop partnerships among business, labor, education, community and government to advance regional economic objectives and enhance the academic performance and career readiness of students within the Capital Region.

The award recognizes educators and business partners who have demonstrated excellence in preparing students to be the next generation of problem solvers, critical thinkers and innovators.

Forty-two of the top nominees were recognized at the River Cats game at Raley Field in April. Ten of these nominees were then chosen and awarded the 2014 Pupils’ Choice Award on April 25 at the IMAX Theater in Sacramento.

Gilroy was the only CTE teacher to receive this distinguished and well-deserved award.
