Dinner to introduce Oak Ridge basebell team

By
From page B4 | March 14, 2014 |

On March 15, the 2014 Oak Ridge High School Trojan Baseball Team will be introduced to the El Dorado Hills community. This annual Meet the Trojans Tri-Tip Barbecue Dinner will be held at the El Dorado Hills Community Services District, 1021 Harvard Way in El Dorado Hills beginning at 6 p.m.

This fun and exciting event will celebrate the great winning tradition of Oak Ridge baseball by introducing this year’s student athletes to the community.

The event’s featured speaker will be Matt Vaughn, head coach for the University of California, Davis Aggies baseball team. Vaughn enters his 21st season with the program and has been an integral part of UC Davis’ success in that time.

In his UC Davis tenure, Vaughn has coached 36 players who have gone on to sign professional contracts, including 15 pitchers. Vaughn will provide an enlightening picture of what it takes to become a Division I student athlete.

This annual Meet the Team Dinner is the baseball club’s most profitable fundraiser. The funds raised will go towards on-going renovations to the baseball field. The aim through this project is to convert the current baseball complex into a first-rate facility in which all of the El Dorado Hills community members can take pride.

This event is perfect for parents with children who are interested in being introduced to the great traditions of Oak Ridge baseball.

The team would especially like to involve the next generation of ORHS baseball players who are currently participating in El Dorado Hills Little League. Wear your EDH LL team jersey or hat and receive a gift from the team.

Tickets are on sale now at $25 person and 10 and under $10. Contact Liz Davis at edavisdesigns@comcast.net to attend.
