Love potions and fairies come to Ponderosa High School in the drama department’s presentation of William Shakespeare’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.”

The play tells of love gone amuck when Puck, a servant to King Oberon, gives unsuspecting subjects a love potion while they sleep — with hilarious results.

The play tells of the conflict between love and social convention and offers a peek into the plot of “Romeo and Juliet” in the play-within-the play  of ”Pyramus and Thisbe.”

After a lot of misdirected interaction true love does win out and the audience will enjoy the journey to a very happy ending.

“A Midsummer Night’s Dream” comes to Ponderosa’s theater, 3661 Ponderosa Road in Shingle Springs, at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday to Saturday, Oct. 25 to 27 and Nov. 1 to 3.

Tickets are $10 for general admission and $8 for students. They can be purchased at the door.
