EL DORADO HILLS — Dump your old electronic items and save the environment.
On Saturday, Oct. 6, the Back Country Horsemen is having its inaugural e-Waste Drive-Through Drop off Fundraiser to help the Back Country Horsemen and save the environment. The dumping will take place at the Town Center by CVS in El Dorado Hills. The cost to dump your electronic items is free.
Participants won’t even have to get out of their car. Pop the trunk or open the door and they will unload for you!. Why? The Back Country Horsemen build and maintain trails and campgrounds in the Sierra Nevada in conjunction with the Forest Service, all on their own time and expense. Funding is needed for tools, safety equipment, training, and supplies.
Items will be accepted are monitors, televisions, desktop and notebook PCs, VCRs, stereo equipment, CD’s, speakers, keyboards, mice, PDAs, digital cameras, zip drives, telephones, cell phones, printers, copiers, laser and multifunction scanners, fax machines, microwaves, small household appliances such as toasters, mixers and blenders and vacuum cleaners with the dust bag removed.
Items that will not be accepted are large household appliances such as refrigerators, washers and dryers, furniture, hazardous household waste including batteries, car batteries, paint, pesticides, used oil, cleaning supplies, fluorescent light bulbs, water heaters and tires.
For optimal security, all computer hard drives.
For times to bring electronic items or more information, contact Cathy Andrews of Back Country Horsemen at 916-358-6179.
