As part of its centennial celebration, Universal Pictures is teaming up with NCM Fathom Events and Turner Classic Movies to bring a newly remastered version of Steven Spielberg’s beloved “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial” to select movie theaters on Wednesday, Oct. 3.

Released in 1982, “E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial” became the biggest blockbuster of the year, winning four Oscars and remaining the fourth most successful movie of all time in the domestic box office.

In honor of the film’s 30th Anniversary, “TCM Presents ‘E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial’ 30th Anniversary Event” will take place at 7 p.m. with special matinée screenings in select theaters at 2 p.m.

The event features the all-new, digitally remastered feature film, as well as a special taped introduction by TCM host Ben Mankiewicz.

Fans will discover how Spielberg came up with the idea for “E.T.,” while Drew Barrymore — who plays Gertie in the film — shares what the film means to her 30 years later.

Other events currently scheduled in the TCM Events Series include “Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds,” “Lawrence of Arabia 50th Anniversary Event: Digitally Restored,” “Frankenstein and The Bride of Frankenstein,” and “To Kill a Mockingbird.”

Tickets for “TCM Presents ‘E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial’ 30th Anniversary Event” are available at participating theater box offices and online at FathomEvents.com

“TCM Presents ‘E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial’ 30th Anniversary Event” will be showing at Folsom 14, 261 Iron Point Road in Folsom at 2 and 7 p.m. and El Dorado Hills Stadium 13 with IMAX, 2101 Vine St. in El Dorado Hills, at 7 p.m.
