El Dorado Hills Natural Farms will host its first Strawberry Festival Saturday, May 31, from 4-8 p.m.

“We are excited to partner with many local non-profit organizations looking to raise funds for their respective causes,” said EDH Farms co-owner Doug Hus.

The organizations include Run For Courage, All About Equine, Vision Coalition and Clarksville Region Historical Society. The non-profits will make and sell strawberry treats during the event, including smoothies and strawberry shortcake.

“The festival is also an exciting way to introduce farm fresh produce to kids and for them to explore the benefits of all natural farming,” Hus said.

Local musicians will entertain guests. The Rich Ayala Duet plays from 6-8 p.m, performing Latin, rock, jazz and cover music.

Vendors will sell hand-crafted items and there will be a Little Mr./Miss Strawberry dress-up contest, face painting and strawberry activity and recipe books available for purchase.

Visitors are also welcome to tour the farm’s 17,000 strawberry plants (there will be no U-pick during the event.) Check out the chickens, herb and sunflower gardens, too.

The farm stand will offer strawberries and a bounty of other farm fresh produce for sale.

Hamburgers, hot dogs and drinks will also be available for purchase.

Hus said they’re excited to host a Salsa Festival next, on Aug. 30.

“It will be like a chili cook-off,” said Huss. “Local restaurants will make their recipes on site, using our farm’s ingredients.”

Parking and festival admission are free.

El Dorado Hills Natural Farms is located at 1941 Old Bass Lake Road.
